The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is considered to be an entry qualification for people looking to assess learners on accredited courses. Most training centres would expect that you have this assessor qualification at the very least before you start assessing in the FE and HE sectors.This is Regulated Qualifications Framework RQF qualification formerly known as A1 Assessor course and it was replaced by the current suite of qualifications, which are commonly referred to as TAQA (Training Assessment and Quality Assurance).You are not required to have any prior qualification or experience to start this course, just a passion to teach or train. This NVQ assessor course will assist you regardless of your subject expertise, whether you teach music or coach people. The course is accredited by UK OFQUAL, and is delivered 100% online. Duration and Delivery

Entry Requirement

Learners should:

  • be over 19 years of age
  • have a satisfactory level of Literacy and Numeracy skills
  • have access to atleast two learners on accredited courses
Practical Requirement

Unit 2 is practical and expects that you assess two learners studying for a course that is work based and studying for a course that is mostly theoretical in nature respectively.

How will I be assessed?

Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay style written accounts and reflections of your own assessment practices. Some of the tasks would require submission of relevant work such audio or video recordings serving as evidence that you assessed learners in a classroom or training environment.

This unit help in assessing learner’s performance. This unit covers the areas of assessment planning; judging both performance and knowledge and providing feedback; making assessment decisions and providing feedback. The assessment skills to be demonstrated are through the assessment of natural performance, simulation and questioning.

NVQ Assessors support and assess learners that are working towards their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). An NVQ Assessor will assess and train learners in order for them to gain the occupational standards needed to achieve their qualification.

There is no time frame to complete the course. Most learners complete it in as less as 4 days (fast track) or up to 4 months (full time).

You are required to have access to at least two learners to fulfill the requirement of unit 2.
Yes, the Level 3 certificate does not allow simulation.
Yes, you can complete the theoretical part first and then wait to get a placement to complete the practical requirements of the course.
