Can I progress through the units at my own pace, or are there set deadlines for each unit?
While there are no specific deadlines for completing each unit, it’s important to note that all coursework must be finished within one month after the classes. Additionally, it’s highly recommended that learners start with Unit 1, which covers theoretical aspects, before moving on to Units 2 and 3 (which focus on practical applications). This sequential approach ensures that learners have a solid foundation of knowledge from Unit 1 to effectively apply during the practical exercises in Units 2 and 3.
Will I be able to cover/perform the practical parts of Units 2 and 3 during the class sessions?
No, since simulation is not allowed in this course, the learners won’t be able to complete the practical part of the course (i.e. carry out their assessments) during the on-site sessions. Instead, they will practice using various assessment methods with their peers in class to prepare for their actual assessments. These assessments will be conducted at their own time with their actual learners, ensuring real-world application of the knowledge gained.

I have over 15 years’ experience in teaching and training. I am a PhD candidate (passed viva) at the University of Essex. My specialisation in PhD is Entrepreneurship. I am an active researcher with specific interest in Entrepreneurship, SME, Marketing and UK Higher Education (UKHE). I have over 14 years work experience in UKHE, which includes extensive experience of quality assurance in the sector. I have worked in education for 34 years, in various guises. I managed a busy nursery for 12 years before branching out into Assessment and Quality Assurance, more than 20 years ago. My practice has developed alongside the ever-evolving training and apprenticeship sector, and I have worked in many different settings, including colleges, private training agencies and a foster care agency. I also work part time as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for a local charity that supports higher level education for young people with Special Educational and/or behavioural needs and as a tutor for a bespoke programme for one-to-one support. I really enjoy supporting learners of varying abilities and experience to achieve their best and to become qualified in their chosen field.
