Assessment Only Route

What is our “Assessment Only Route” to gaining an Ofqual regulated RQF qualification?

Under the “Assessment Only Route”, we assess your portfolio of evidence against the requirements of the RQF qualification that you wish to claim. In other words, we do not provide any tutor support or study resources, but only assess and quality assure your work before claiming the certificate from the awarding organisation. The following diagram will explain the difference between the usual course offering and Assessment only route.

How do I know if this is the right option for me?

You should only choose this route if at least one of the following options apply to you:

  • You have already completed the course with another provider, but the provider failed to provide the certification for any reason such as closure of the business or unavailability of appropriate assessors or IQAs.
  • You already have all the required evidences as a result of having prior learning or work related evidences, and wish to be formally awarded the qualification. It will be your responsibility to ensure that you have the complete evidences as per the requirements of the course.
  • You are confident that you will be able to start and complete the qualification without any tutor support, study resources or formative feedback.
  • You are an independent training provider with your own learners and wish to use the services of our assessment and quality assurance team to claim Ofqual regulated qualifications for your learners.
  • You are an employer with several team members who wish to claim formal qualifications. You are happy to arrange for the training in-house but wish to use our assessment and quality assurance service to claim Ofqual regulated qualifications.

How much do you charge for the assessment only route?

The following charges will apply to cover our assessment, quality assurance and awarding organisation charges:

I have a complicated case- can I discuss it with you?

Sure, you can. Please send your queries to [email protected]. However, chances are that any complicated cases won’t be eligible for Assessment Only Route. We are only able to process the certificates under this route if the portfolio is either ready or will soon be ready without any tutor support. So, if you need any kind of help to make that happen then this would indicate that you will have to apply for your chosen course as usual from the course page, and pay the usual course fee applicable at the time of applying for the course.

What happens if I submit the portfolio and it does not meet your expectations?

As much as we would like to see a complete portfolio submitted for assessment, we recognise that what you consider complete might be different from our expectations. In order to be reasonable and to accommodate our learners falling marginally short of our expectations, we will be able to allow one resubmission if, and only if, up to three assessment criteria (ACs) are not being met. The following examples further explain this point.

Example 1:
You submit a portfolio for Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training under the Assessment Only Route. Instead of paying the advertised fee of £720, you paid £220.
Your assessor determined that one AC from Unit 1 and two ACs from Unit 3 failed to meet the passing criteria. Since the total number of ACs that failed to meet the passing criteria are no more than 3, we will provide you with summative feedback to make the required improvements and you will be allowed one resubmission. There won’t be any extra costs involved.

Example 2:
You submit a portfolio for Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training under the Assessment Only Route. Instead of paying the advertised fee of £720, you paid £220.
Your assessor determined that two ACs from Unit 1 and two ACs from Unit 3 failed to meet the passing criteria. Since the total number of ACs that failed to meet the passing criteria are more than 3, we will provide you with summative feedback to make the required improvements, but you will not be allowed a free resubmission.
You will be charged another £220 for the resubmission. Since you will be paying another charge, you will be entitled to another resubmission so far as no more than 3 ACs fail the passing criteria. Given this logic, it is extremely unlikely for a learner to have to pay the charge the third time.

Can I send you my portfolios so that you can advise me if it’s good enough to apply for the Assessment Only Route?

The assessment only route is essentially a heavy discount that we want to award to learners who already have the portfolio ready or will have it ready soon, saving us time and costs on providing you with the required tutor/assessor support. We, therefore, pass on that cost saving to our learners in the form of a discounted price under this route.
If we start assessing portfolios to advise on their eligibility for the scheme, then we would be doing quite the opposite of what we aim to achieve through this route. Therefore, we won’t be able to provide an informal or ‘soft’ decision on the quality of your portfolio unless you have formally applied for this route and paid the applicable fee.

Can I pay the fee by instalments?

If you wish to apply for the Assessment Only Route, you will need to pay the applicable fee in full. We are unable to offer instalments. Please note that instalment options are available for all of our courses, except the Assessment Only Route.

Are you able to apply group discounts?

Our prices are heavily discounted under the Assessment Only Route. However, if you are a training provider or employer with 5 or more learners submitting their portfolios under this route at the same time, send us an email at [email protected] and we will get back to you.

Are there any hidden charges?

No. The stated charges include assessment, IQA, registration, certification charges and postage of the certificate to a UK address.
We believe in complete transparency and professional ethics. This is why we have ensured that our website states all the information and terms & conditions clearly, leaving no room for any confusion.

I understand all the terms and happy to apply for the course. What do I need to do next?

Great. Please complete the following application form and a member of our admissions team will get back to you within two working days, usually on the same day.
