Overview

The Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare is designed for individuals who are currently working, volunteering, or on a practical placement in children and young people’s residential childcare settings. This qualification provides an opportunity to develop and demonstrate competence in roles such as residential care worker or short break carer, supporting children and young people from birth to 25 years old.

The course covers essential knowledge and skills, including child and young person development, promoting a safe and stimulating environment, ensuring well-being and resilience, and fostering positive relationships and attachments. This qualification is accredited by Ofqual and delivered 100%  online.

Scope of this Qualification

This Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare is relevant for various roles, including registered residential childcare managers, senior care workers, advanced practitioners in residential care, support workers, deputies, and assistant managers in both adult and children’s social care settings. It prepares individuals for career progression within the sector and enhances their ability to support children and young people effectively in accordance with industry standards and best practices.

Duration and Delivery

This Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you. Our Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) course can take as little as 4 months or up to one year, depending on your previous experience and the time you can dedicate to the course. This Level 3 Diploma is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) whereby you are provided online tutor support to successfully complete your course.

Assessment and Verification

This qualification will be internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by awarding organisation through portfolio of evidence. The units will be assessed with variety of assessment methods which include practical observations, written assignments, witness testimony, reflective accounts and work products, detailed guidance for which will be provided by the tutor once you start the course.

Portfolios will be submitted in batches of learners twice a year, in February and July, for sampling and certification by the awarding body. Learners are advised to submit their work at least one month in prior to ensure they receive their certification within the respective timeframe.
