Once you complete your Level 3 AET, you can easily proceed toward the following qualifications:
What Will You Learn after Pursuing L3 AET?
While the Level 3 Award in Education and Training equips you with the basics of lesson delivery and planning, it goes beyond technical skills.
Upon completing the L3 AET, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of your key roles and responsibilities as a teacher.
Streamlining Lesson Planning and Facilitating Engaging Teaching Sessions
Once you complete the course, you will start planning lessons and delivering teaching lessons in a much different and effective way.
You will understand why and how to keep learners’ needs in mind; their individual learning styles and goals and prior knowledge and experience.
Using Teaching Strategies Effectively
It is always important to keep students engaged in the learning and make learning fun and easily digestible as much as possible.
Once you enrol on this qualification, you will learn how to use multiple teaching strategies in your classroom efficiently. For instance:
- You will learn about a reciprocated questioning technique which is a part of active learning teaching strategy. This technique emphasises the idea that teachers must ask questions about their recently delivered lesson. Give around a 10–15-minute break in between your lessons so that students can easily digest the lesson.
- You will get a good understanding of the differentiation technique, learning how to navigate and identify the individual needs of your students; hence, moulding your lesson, strategy, assessment and content according to their learning styles. You will learn how to identify your students’ learning preferences using the VARK (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, Kinaesthetic) model. This will help your students get the most out of learning and achieve their desired results.
Inclusive Practices
Inclusive practices are behavioural and instructional strategies which are important to create a safe and productive classroom. These practices ensure all learners are getting the same equitable learning opportunities.
For instance, we have all encountered teachers with clear favourites. This act might not be likeable to other students at some point in education. This is just one example of the antithesis of an inclusive classroom.
With Level 3 Award in Education and Training, you will be able to create an inclusive classroom because learners need a safe, calm and productive learning environment in order to grow.
The course will help you understand how to:
Include all students and provide them with the same equitable learning opportunities,
- Accept the fact that all learners are different
- Cater to all learners’ needs, preferences and demands of individual or groups of students
- Provide equal opportunity discouraging discrimination at any point
- Support learners with additional needs (such as those with learning disabilities or physical limitations)
- Cater to different learning styles
Learn to Assess Your Students Effectively
Assessment in teaching is extremely important to evaluate whether or not the learning has taken place. Once the course is completed, you will learn, mainly, four main assessment methods for effective teaching in the long run:
Initial assessment
You will understand the concept of initial assessment. This assessment happens at the beginning of a course or program.
It will help you identify weak areas of students or what areas they might need additional support in. This can involve placement tests, surveys, or discussions.
Diagnostic assessment
You will understand the idea of diagnostic assessment, which you can carry out at any time during teaching.
For instance, you may take a quiz, short answer questions, or even informal discussions to pinpoint any learning gaps and adjust accordingly.
Formative Assessment
Additionally, you will learn about the formative assessment method. Though informal, it is helpful to monitor students’ learning process throughout.
For example, you can take mock exams, homework assignments or quizzes to check how much learners have learned throughout the lesson.
Summative assessment
Other than these, you will get a good idea of summative assessment, which is formal and conducted at the end of the course.
It involves a major test, project, or presentation to measure how well students have achieved the learning objectives.
Different assessment methods should be utilised in various lessons; therefore, it is important to identify which assessment method to use and where to make teaching more effective.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a valuable qualification for anyone interested in teaching or training adults. It provides a strong foundation in lesson planning, teaching methods, assessment, and creating an inclusive classroom environment. With this qualification, you’ll be well-equipped to begin your journey as a successful educator and make a positive impact on your learners.
