Duration and Delivery
This Level 5 Certificate in TEFL is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you best. Assessment and Verification
All units within this course are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by the awarding organisation. The assessment takes the form of written assignments and a practical element of observations of teaching practice, detailed guidance for which will be provided by the tutor once you are enrolled on our VLE. Practical requirements of this course include completing a minimum of 6 hours of teaching practice through at least 6 observations (one hour each). Practical Requirements
You are required to complete a minimum of 6 hours of teaching practice in a real work setting. This constitutes the submission of 6 observations of one hour each.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via a portfolio of evidence containing written assignments for each unit and 6 teaching observations, which demonstrate the achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay-style written accounts and reflections on your own teaching practices. Some of the tasks would require the submission of relevant work products such as lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching and learning resources, ILPs, etc.the theories and methodologies underpinning language teaching

Six teaching observations are required to complete the practical component of this course, which will be observed by qualified assessors.
How long should each teaching observation be?
Each observation should be at least 60 minutes. If it is shorter than 60 minutes, additional teaching observations would be required, so it would be best to have each lesson planned for at least 60 minutes.
What’s the difference between TEFL and TESOL?
TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) are both acronyms for teaching English to non-native English speakers.
