The Level 1 Award in Working with Children qualification aims to enable learners to develop basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of young children, aged from birth to 5 years based in a variety of settings. This Working with Children qualification helps learners understand their role in supporting children’s development. The qualification allows learners to develop the basic skills needed to support play-work, out-of-school and early years settings. This qualification is ideal for anyone considering a career in childcare or looking to understand the foundation of working with young children in various settings such as nurseries, schools, and childminding. This Level 1 qualification is accredited by UK OfQual and delivered 100% online.
This qualification is to prepare learners for further training and to support a role in the workplace, such as early-year educators, Childminders, Teaching Assistants, Play Workers or want to work with parents and young children. This qualification also serves as a stepping stone for those wishing to pursue further qualifications in childcare.
This Level 1 Award in Working with Children course is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you. Our Level 1 Award in Working with Children course can take as little as 2 weeks or up to 6 months, depending on your previous experience and the time you can dedicate to the course. This Level 1 Award is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) whereby you are provided online tutor support to successfully complete your course.
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by awarding organisation. The portfolio of evidence contains written assignments and work products, regarding which the tutor will give thorough instructions on how to complete them. Once you are enrolled on our VLE, you will receive tutor support to help you achieve your objectives.
Portfolios will be submitted in batches of learners twice a year, in February and July, for sampling and certification by the awarding body. Learners are advised to submit their work at least one month in prior to ensure they receive their certification within the respective time frame.

No, there is no practical requirements to complete this qualification. If you are not currently in a childcare role, the course can still be completed through coursework and assessment based on your theoretical understanding of the subject matter.
