The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education provides a strong foundation in early years education and child development. It equips learners with essential knowledge about children from birth to seven years and prepares them for roles within the early years sector. This qualification covers key aspects of child health, development, and the role of an Early Years Educator during this critical stage of life.
This course also supports learners in progressing to university degrees and higher education by awarding UCAS points based on the grades achieved. The qualification is Ofqual-accredited and delivered 100% online, allowing learners to complete it at their own pace.
The Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education is part of a nested qualification structure, meaning learners can upgrade to higher-level qualifications within the same subject area. Upon completion, learners have the option to progress to the Level 3 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, expanding their knowledge and career prospects.

This Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education qualification is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you. Our Level 3 Award in Childcare and Education course can take as little as 4 weeks or up to 6 months, depending on your previous experience and the time you can dedicate to the course. This Level 3 Award is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) whereby you are provided online tutor support to successfully complete your course.
This qualification will be internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by awarding organisation through portfolio of evidence. The assessment takes the form of two written assignments and work products, detailed guidance for which will be provided by the tutor once you start the course.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners will be awarded UCAS points based on their achieved grade. These points can be used to support applications for university and higher education courses. The allocation of points is as follows: an A grade* earns 28 UCAS points, an A grade earns 24 points, a B grade earns 20 points, a C grade earns 16 points, and a D grade earns 12 points. This ensures that learners who achieve higher grades have a greater advantage when applying for further education opportunities.
Portfolios will be submitted in batches of learners twice a year, in February and July, for sampling and certification by the awarding body. Learners are advised to submit their work at least one month in prior to ensure they receive their certification within the respective timeframe.
Successful completion of this qualification allows learners to progress onto university degrees and higher education, depending on the UCAS points achieved. Additionally, learners can enrol in the following related qualifications:
