The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (L4 CET) is a teaching qualification designed for individuals who wish to enter teaching or training roles in further education and higher education. It is formerly known as the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS). This Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and delivered entirely online, with dedicated tutor support provided throughout your learning journey.

It is ideal for assessors transitioning into teaching, workplace trainers, and freelance or corporate trainers delivering learning in various industries such as business, healthcare, hospitality, and other sectors. This qualification is also beneficial for those teaching in Further and Higher Education, adult education, or private training settings who want to formalise their teaching skills. This course will assist you, regardless of your subject expertise, in upgrading your teaching career.
This Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training course is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you. Our Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training course can take as little as 2 weeks or up to 9 months, depending on your previous experience and the time you can dedicate to the course. This Level 4 CET course is delivered through our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) whereby you are provided online tutor support to successfully complete your course.
All units within this Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (L4 CET) are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by the awarding organisation. Learners will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, which includes written assignments, 30 hours of recorded teaching practice, and a minimum of three observations, each lasting at least 60 minutes. Observations can be conducted through recorded teaching sessions or in person by an assessor at the learner's workplace. Detailed guidance for assessment will be provided by the tutor once you are enrolled.
Successful completion of this teaching qualification allows you to advance in your role within Further Education, pursue employment in a related profession, or progress to the Focus Awards Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) (DiT) for further career development.

If you do not have access to learners or a teaching environment to meet the practical requirements, you can avail work placement service at Britannia School of Academics. In this placement, you are provided with learners to teach remotely, and your assessor will observe live.
You will be assessed via a portfolio of evidence containing four written assignments, three teaching observation forms and a teaching practice log of 30 hours, demonstrating the achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria associated with each unit. Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay-style written accounts and reflections on your own teaching practices. Some of the tasks would require submission of relevant work such as study resources that you prepared for your learners, lesson plans, scheme of work, ILPs, etc.

There is no specific time frame to complete the course. Most learners complete it in as few as 2 weeks (fast track) or up to 9 months (full time).
Our courses are OFQUAL approved as we work with an approved awarding organisation called “Focus Awards”. This is a well-respected awarding organisation for education and training courses. The Certificate in Education and Training (CET) was previously known as Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) under the old QCF framework. Apart from the names, both are essentially the same courses.
For Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, three teaching observations are required which will be observed by one of our qualified assessors.
Each observation should be at least 60 minutes. If it is shorter than 60 minutes, additional teaching observations would be required so it would be best to have each lesson planned for at least 60 minutes.
Absolutely NOT. Your observations should be spread over your course so that there is a learning curve whereby you take feedback from the observer on board and make improvements in your next teaching session.
This should not be a problem. We will wait for you till you find a placement and then, carry out the observations. Meanwhile, you can work on the theoretical part of this course. You can also avail our work placement offer in case you cannot manage finding a placement for yourself. An alternative choice for you is to opt for our Level 3 Award in Education and Training which does not require any work placement.
For Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, 30 teaching hours need to be logged.
